a.k.a. “The Walking and Leaping Miracle Department”

1966

  • Started as a section under the Nursing Service Department.
  • A four-bed capacity in a room located at the south wing building occupied by the Ultrasound section of the Diagnostic and Imaging Dept.
  • Was popularly known as the Physiotherapy Room
  • Hydrotherapy was the most common intervention that includes whirlpool bath, fomentation, hot sitzbath, hot foot bath, contrast bath, jet spray shower, starch bath, oatmeal bath, etc.
  • Other services include massage using the scientific Swedish technique, electro therapy, heliotherapy and exercises.
  • The PT Technician was Ms. Emma delos Reyes under the supervision of Mrs. Rebecca G. Andrada, Nursing Service Director.

  • Dr. Manuel Y. Gayoles Jr., Physiatrist, starts clinic at the department.
  • Internship training from different PT schools started:

    Liceo de Cagayan – CDO City
    Colegio de Santa Isabel – Naga City
    St. Anthony College – Roxas City

  • Was officially named Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department
  • Transferred to its new location at the ICU and ER Complex
  • Later on, Dr. Filipinas Ganchoon joined with Dr. Manuel Y. Gayoles Jr. to have clinic in the department

May 2000 – St. Paul College of Iloilo City starts its internship

  • The Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department transferred to its new location 3rd floor, West Wing, New Building. The room is equipped with 6 Plinths, 1 Traction Unit, a Pedia Room to accommodate Pediatric patients, a Mini gym, a Hydrocollator room.

Present 

  • As of today, the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department is headed by Ms. Alfa May P. Lecciones, PTRP as the Chief PT, together with 4 Licensed Physical Therapists, Ms. DynaJane A. Vingno, PTRP, Ms. Mira Luna P. Plana, PTRP, RPT, Ms. Roxie Ann D. Daclan, PTRP, and Ms. Theresa Haro, PTRP. Six different programs of the 5th year PT students namely Siliman University, Saint Pauls University-Iloilo, Riverside College Bacolod, Iligan Adventist College, Unibersidad De Santa Isabel-Bico Manila Adventist Medical College.
  • Adventist Medical Center – Bacolod PT Rehab Department presently offers the best Pt Intervention in town with its state-of-the-art facilities, friendly rates and most of all caring and enthusiastic services offered by the staffs flashing their “Happy to Serve You” mega-watt smiles.
