“Quality Care in a Jiffy”

When a medical clinic in a rented building along Lacson Street was opened in 1961, the first emergency nurse acted as one of its receptionist/ secretary/ nurses. When the clinic operations were transferred to the then 50-bed capacity hospital in Taculing, the emergency and outpatient services experienced additional patient traffic.

In 1999, the opening of the Maternity-Intensive Care-Emergency-Rehabilitation and Hemodialysis Complex further improved the ER-OPD services. In 2006, the opening of the Pediatric Ambulatory Services under the ER-OPD added additional outpatient services connection to the Pediatric Residency Training Program.

The ER is currently undergoing a major renovation to further provide quality service to patients who need medical attention- in a jiffy.

Treasure Story: MISTAKEN IDENTITY

One morning, in the old information desk (Patient Business Department Manager’s Office Today) a staff lay on top of the counter with his whole body covered in linen. Earlier a patient who came dead on arrival to the Emergency department was brought to the morgue. A few minutes later, a group of weeping family members arrived and gathered around the staff lying on top of the information counter, amidst the wailing and shouting the staff woke up, sat up and scared the living lights out of the weeping folks.
